Oh the angst! It is spectacular. Arthur’s face breaks my heart. The way he looks at her, al wounded. He is mad at her without a real good reason. He is hurting and is trying to hurt her back by saying he only came because Morgana begged him to. It is a defense mechanism he uses to protect himself from the heart ache he is feeling. Arthur has never felt this hurt, because he has never loved before.

No matter if you are team Arthur or team Lancelot. You have to feel for him here.

Lancelot is not blind. He understands what Arthur feels for Guinevere. He asks Merlin about it and vows to not come between them and leaves. Some may thing that honorable. But I think this is one of many reasons why Lancelot is not the guy for her. He doesn’t even ask what she wants and at this point Arthur is an option for her. Arthur & Guinevere’s love is forbidden. Arthur is devastated as he witness Guinevere’s reaction to Lancelot leaving.

Guinevere is reunited with Morgana, Arthur steals the scene with his puppy dog eyes.

Oh yes Guinevere, you had to and you did! You chose your one true love. And the writers made that brilliant move and chose the true legendary love story! I love the foreshadowing! 

Arthur, their young king, like a hero out of legend.
